    Minesweeper "currently not available"

    After years of using Microsoft Minesweeper on my Windows 10 PC, it suddenly yesterday (07/06/17) started failing with the message "Microsoft Minesweeper is currently not available to you." in a popup titled "Check your account". Checked my account --
    no clues there. Tried reinstalling -- no change. No system updates since mid-June, and I'm pretty sure I didn't do anything to cause this strange behavior. Any ideas?
