Windows 10: Microsoft Money stopped working 1st October 2022

Hi,I have used Microsoft Money for over 25 years and most recently the Deluxe Sunset edition on Windows 10. It's been fantastically useful and I am aware that I am using very old, unsupported software which I use with considerable gratitude to Microsoft for making a sunset edition available.Very strangely, I returned from holiday to find that MS Money would start, show the initial account view and charts and then disappear off the screen and task manager. It looks like it's being terminated in someway as it works through its final start-up routines. The last time I accessed it successfull

Microsoft Money stopped working in Windows 10

OK, finally had a few hours to try and fix this to no avail. SFC & DSM no errors or issues found.

Windows App troubleshooter; no issues found.

I am running Microsoft Money Plus Deluxe Version 17.0.120.3817.

I am not using an app to access it; access directly from programs or desktop shortcut.

After trying all suggested steps; the same issue occurs when trying to type in a new payee. As soon as you type it and then hit 'tab' it states "Microsoft Money stopped working" looks for a solution and then gives you the option to 'close program. Other
than that it works fine after updating regedit to stop the IE6 download request as stated above. So this continues to be an issue.

 

Another Money App 'An error occurred, try refreshing' Error

I experienced the same problem, both Home page and Watch list pages were not refreshing in MSN Money as of early May. Specifically, on the Home page the new articles would not refresh. The market "ticker" was refreshing.

I ran through the steps suggested by Mosken and...

• The Watchlist page is now fixed - operating as it did before. It was fixed after I ran the system troubleshooter and I had to BOTH 1) Repair and then 2) Reset MSN Money.
  
• The Home page seems to have refreshed the new articles, but only up to 1-Jun-2022 (today is 9-Jun-2022)...so something is still broken on that page.
  
• I also ran the noted commands from an elevated prompt. While the first one did find some corrupted files (and fixed them), those fixes did not help fix the MSN Money app.
  

Note: I did NOT reset Windows or any steps like that. Everything else is running fine; it was just these two sections of the MSN Money app that stopped working.

The problem: When trying to make an entry in Microsoft Money, I try to enter a new payee and then I get the following message: "Microsoft Money Stopped Working". The only option is to close program. I can enter line item with payees that are already listed,
only happens when trying to enter a new payee. I used the regedit solution and that allowed the program to work without the IE6 update request. Microsoft; can you patch a solution to Money without users having to make regedit changes?
