Microsoft Outlook has stopped working - Win 10 w/kb3194496

Trying to start Outlook 2010, get message "Microsoft Outlook has stopped working".
(Same result in Outlook "safe mode".)
Outlook opens folder pane, message pane & preview pane. Then a popup with message above.
This is a Windows 10 system "upgraded" from Windows 7 about a year ago via GWX.
The email provider is COMCAST using an Exchange Server via RPC/HTTP connection.
Since we're talking about Exchange Server, the data files are .OSTs.
SFC finds no problems, and neither does CHKDSK.

Event log is cryptic to me (aren't they all?) but names "WINDOWS.UI.XAML.DLL" as faulting module.
I believe this module to be a component of KB3194496, recently installed via Windows Update.
It seems clear to me that this is a Windows Update issue.
There are no available Restore Points.

    (event pasted below)
    Has anyone else seen this?

    Is there a work-around?

    Thanks In advance...

  2. AppReadiness errors after September 29 Windows 10 update

I'm getting the exact same errors. Previously had nil errors in event log. This has only happened after the forced Cumulative Update (KB3194496). I did a system restore and errors disappeared but update automatically reinstalled and errors returned.

Please don't reply with standard Microsoft answers of run SFC or create new user profiles etc, these errors are to do with (KB3194496). Microsoft must start to give an option to not install updates automatically in Win 10.

  3. Windows 10 - USB xHCI Compliant Host Controller Code 10

After installation of Windows 10 cumulative update KB3194496, my SIIG USB 3.0 card (Renesas) has again stopped working, with the error code 10 shown in device manager. I've spent nearly 2 hours trying to get it going again to no avail. Neither the Windows
10 native driver nor the SIIG driver will fix the problem. I conclude that it is the KB3194496 updates that have once again screwed it up.
