Windows 10: Microsoft Outlook, Skype, OneDrive hit by another authentication issue

Compatability with non Windows based phones.

There are Microsoft apps currently that are compatible with Android based phones such as:

Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and OneNote

OneDrive

Skype

Health and Fitness, Food and Drink, Finance

 

Microsoft Account App on Windows Phone or just on Android?

Hi, are you familiar with how 2-factor authentication works? If you enable it, every time you sign in to a Microsoft service (anything, Skype, OneDrive, Outlook, VisualStudio online, Azure, whatever) or where sensitive info is accessed you need to enter
a code. This is not only when you create an account for the first time, although you can locally disable it for devices you most frequently use.

Microsoft provides various ways of generating the code, SMS by providing the last 4 digits of the number, email by typing the full address, and authenticator apps. On Windows Phone you have the Microsoft Authenticator app that generates the code (it's a
standard authenticator app, any third-party one would work as well, and vice-versa the MS Authenticator app can generate codes for non-Microsoft OAuth services).

On Android Microsoft provides a "Microsoft Account" app that receives the authentication request and internally generates and sends the code when you accept the request without the need for copy/paste

It is not an Android service making a third-party request. It's a Microsoft app. I'm asking why this nice Microsoft app is not available on Windows Phone 8.1 and whether it is available on Windows 10 for phones.

 

I noticed this when I reinstalled Windows 10 on one machine where I work and it wouldnt activate. I thought there was something wrong with the key or something like that, but apparantly it was an issue right at MS.
