Windows 10: Microsoft People/People app

Recently had to reinstall Win 10 Pro on my desktop. People or Microsoft People should have been part of that install, I believe, but maybe not because I believe I kept my files and programs. Regardless, my contacts in People are gone. Apps show I have 'People' but will not load. I have downloaded Microsoft People from Windows Store; it say says it is installed but when I open it it take me to the app update page. My contacts may be stored somewhere in my system but I am not able to find/access them. People will not launch. Microsoft will not launch. Microsoft no longer offers real support for items from the 'Microsoft Store'. I started with Win 10 technical support and they spent a substantial amount of time, apparently thinking it was an install problem, with no result. Technical support then referred me to Microsoft Store support as it is their responsibility to support apps from the Microsoft store. This spot for questions seems to be the only 'support' the Microsoft Store offers. I am almost as upset with Microsoft about this as I am about Microsoft abandoning the Microsoft Phone, it was and is still the most intuitive mobile phone system but their abandonment meant fewer and fewer apps available.


Is there any help, anywhere, available for my problem with People/Microsoft People for Win 10 Pro?

APP for People

If you need an App to manage your contact list, you can use the built-in People App from Microsoft.

Please follow this steps:

1. Press WINDOWS + S

2. Type "People" without quotes and press ENTER

3. Click "People" app from the list of results.

If you want to install another app, you can do that searching the app name on Microsoft Store.

 

Issue with People app


I'm running a clean install of Win 10, less than a week old, and I'm seeing some odd behaviour with the People app.

When I'm in Mail, I can see a contact's details by clicking on the "Open Contact" option from within the message. This opens the People app. So far so good.

However, this seems to be the only way I can access People. There's no obvious way to access it otherwise from mail, it's not listed in "All apps": also, when the People app is open, it has no icon in the taskbar - just an empty space where the icon should be (I can grab this anti-icon and move it around the taskbar).

Any suggestions welcome...

 

Unlink combined contacts - People app

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community forums.

The People app is your address book. Combine contacts is a feature to link duplicates to a single contact to avoid confusion. To overcome the issue you’re facing, I suggest you to try the steps listed below:

Method 1

Unlink Contacts:

• Open People app, click on the contact that is linked, and select
  See More on the right pane.
  
• Click on Separate for the contact you want to unlink.
  

Method 2

Reset People app:

If you’ve multiple contacts that are linked, resetting People app would unlink contacts and put everything in place.

• Exit People app, if open.
  
• Open Settings and click on Apps.
  
• Locate People app on the right pane and choose
  Advanced Options.
  
• Click on Reset.
  

Once reset is complete, open People app to see if the contacts are still linked.
