    Since ios 11 started to send photo format .heic or .heif High Efficiency Image File, now Windows devices can't open in native photo app which has .heic or .heif extentionEven those these HEIF Image Extensions should be able to open the photo, but getting the messageBoth HEIF and HEVC Image Extensions are required to display:This was free, now it cost $.99 from the Microsoft store:I Hope Microsoft would put out an update to allow to display images without paying for it, video I do understand if they charge for it.one of the Windows 10 computers had this extension, it it was able to view fine:

    Heic photos dont read in microsoft photos, despite Ive installed HEIF app

    Dear all,

    I have the Heif app installed but the HEIC photos dont read in microsoft photos.

    Please help.

    Hi MiguelFiuza, I am Paulo. I'm an Independent Advisor.

    You need to download the HEIF Image extension as well as the HEVC codec to be able to view HEIC photos. You can check this link for the links

    Microsoft Photo app to support HEIC/HEIF

    HEIC photos not opening in Windows 10 (1909) Fresh Install

    I'm having an issue where all HEIC photos will not open in a fresh install of Windows 10 (1909). I've confirmed that the HEIF Image Extensions app is installed.

    I've gone through the usual troubleshooting steps of resetting the Photos and HEIF image Extensions apps to no avail. I even went as far as running Powershell to uninstall the apps, and again the issue persists.

    Are there any additional troubleshooting steps I can take?
