Windows 10: Microsoft Photos App is installed on my PC on C Drive - in installed apps dated 8/11/2024 -...

As question states - my C Drive is recently near full, and so I am going through apps installed on it. I noticed that it appears a new app, Photos by Microsoft Corporation with date next to it of 8/11/2024 is the 3rd largest app on my C Drive. Why was it installed on 8/11/2-24, I didn't initiate it? I need to uninstall it. Will it affect any of my Photos in any way?? I do not use OneDrive at all.Help please. thank you.

How do I move photos from the my photo app to the pictures folder on the C drive?

  Select the photo and right click on the photo.

  Select Open Folder.
  
• 
  From there you will be able to copy all the photos to C: drive

The Photos app brings together pictures from all your devices using OneDrive, so that you can browse them by date, album or folder. It also automatically enhances photos, and creates albums for you, to showcase your best shots.

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps:

Method 1:

I suggest you to change the Default apps in the setting app and verify the result. You may follow the steps in the below:

• Go to settings and system.
  
• Click on Default Apps and select the appropriately.
  

Method 2:

I suggest you to reinstall Photo app using the PowerShell command
and reinstall using the Windows store. Follow the below steps.

• Open the　Start　menu, type　Windows PowerShell　in the search bar.
  
• Right click on the　Windows　PowerShell　and select　Run as　administrator.
  
• Enter the below command to uninstall the Photo app.
  

• 　　get-appxpackage　　*Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage

Photo app will not install

I suggest you to follow the below step for removing the photo app and reinstall it, check if it helps.

Type in the following command(s) listed in the table below under the “Remove PowerShell Command” column to remove the associated native app.
The app can be reinstalled using the Store App or by following the below.

You will need to exit the Store app if it is already open before reinstalling the app.

get-appxpackage *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage

You can go to the store and type as
Microsoft Photos and then install the app and check if it helps.
