    Microsoft Photos crashes soon after launch


    Soon after opening Microsoft Photos, the app crashes within the first 10-15 seconds. You are unable to sign-in, and really do anything else. It has populated the latest photos into its index. It hadn't done this before. What I have done is try to repair and reset, and have reinstalled the app twice - which has not resolved the problem.


    I'd like to know what can be done to make the app operative again.


    I am current on my Windows 10 updates and using Windows 10, version 1909. OS Build 18363.693.

    Stop Microsoft Photos from opening downloaded photos

    Hi JamesAderman,

    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    Are you referring to the pictures in Windows photos app??

    If yes, you can proceed with the following steps.

    You can exclude the pictures showing in the Downloads folder from the Microsoft Photos app, by following the below steps.

    1. Launch the Microsoft Photos app.
    2. Click on the ellipse icon >
      Settings.
    3. Under Sources, click on
      X mark next to Downloads folder.
    Microsoft Photos app will not display the downloaded pictures.

    I understand that you are unable to launch Microsoft Solitaire Collection and it crashes when you launch it, we will look into this for you. However, please reply with the following details to help you with the appropriate troubleshooting steps:



    • What happens when you launch Microsoft Solitaire Collection?
    • Do you read any error message when you launch the game? If yes, what is the error message?
    • What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?


    In the meantime, I suggest you to refer the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the article

    Fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store     and see if that helps.
