Windows 10: Microsoft Photos doesn't recognize photos starting with "P"

In the version of Photos that I'm using on my new computer (Lenovo Yoga 720) I got in April, the app doesn't find any pictures whose name starts with P, which is all the pictures from my camera. It recognizes videos (from camera new and old) and pictures that start with numbers and older pictures starting with "I", but not the pictures I'd actually want to view and edit. I haven't found a solution with some troubleshooting and looking for other people with the same issue. I thought at first it might be a problem with finding pictures in a Google Drive folder (G:/My Drive/Google Drive...) for some reason, but it finds all those files not starting with P. If I change the name of the file and delete the P, Photos finds and can display the picture right away.


Oddly, I had Windows 10 on my prior computer (also a Lenovo Yoga model) and didn't have this issue. Anyone else had this issue or know a solution?

Unable to get Win10 to recognize EPSON 4870 Photo Scanner


I'll walk you though the steps I do to install my Perfection 1200. I have to do this periodically for some reason to reestablish the 'non-standard' Perfection 2400 driver.

1. Right click on the scanner in Device Manager (as Admin) and select Update Driver. Then select the option to browse my computer for driver software.



2. Then select Let me pick from a list of device drivers....



3. Select Imaging Devices from the next list.



4. Finally, select the correct Epson driver you have installed then click Next. If it isn't listed then something has gone wrong with the driver installation.



5. Hopefully, the scanner should now work?

The Photos app brings together pictures from all your devices using OneDrive, so that you can browse them by date, album or folder. It also automatically enhances photos, and creates albums for you, to showcase your best shots.

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps:

Method 1:

I suggest you to change the Default apps in the setting app and verify the result. You may follow the steps in the below:

• Go to settings and system.
  
• Click on Default Apps and select the appropriately.
  

Method 2:

I suggest you to reinstall Photo app using the PowerShell command
and reinstall using the Windows store. Follow the below steps.

• Open the　Start　menu, type　Windows PowerShell　in the search bar.
  
• Right click on the　Windows　PowerShell　and select　Run as　administrator.
  
• Enter the below command to uninstall the Photo app.
  

• 　　get-appxpackage　　*Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage
