Windows 10: Microsoft Photos keeps saying "looking for photos" from Android phone but doesn't allow me...

For some unknown reason, after connecting my Android to my PC, and Microsoft Photos starts looking for pictures, it keeps looking and doesn't allow me to import anything. I uninstalled Microsoft Photos app and reinstalled another new one from the store. I've used different USB cords and different slots. I've tried to download pictures from my wife's iphone and it does the same thing. I've done resets, troubleshooting and it isn't fixed. I've downloaded hundreds of pictures and documents over the years and never had this problem.Please help me solve this perplexing issue.

Hi Alan,

To address your concern in importing your photos, here are the steps:

• Plug your Android phone into your computer using a USB cable.
• Ensure the phone is in MTP transfer mode and not charging mode.
• Type or paste ‘phone’ into the Search Windows box.
• Select Phone Companion and open the app.
• Select Android within the app window.
• Select the ‘Show’ text link at the very bottom of the next screen.
• Select ‘Import photos and videos from the Photos app’ in the gray box that appears.
• The Photos app should open, confirm import and allow the process to finish.

• How are you trying to import the photos?
  
• Do you receive any error message/code when trying to import the photos? If yes, what is the error message?
  
• When you say, “photos previously - some are now corrupt or cannot be opened”, what is the complete error message that you receive?
  
• Which program are you using to open the photos?

You may try restoring the files to a previous version and see if that helps. Please follow the steps mentioned below:

1. Navigate to the location where the photos are stored.
   
2. Right click on the folder and select Restore previous version.
