  1. Microsoft Photos not indexing second shared folder on same nas

Hi, I have a Linux NAS where I share two folders, they are both mapped to Windows 10 22H2 and both perfectly visible and usable from File Explorer.I added the first one to Microsoft Photos say \\my-server\folder-A\Images and all worked fine. Then I added the second folder say \\my-server\folder-B\Images and Photos does not even begin to index it. It shows 0 files or subfolders.I've tried removing folder-B and adding it again, but it does not work.Do you have any idea of how to solve it?Thanks

    :)

  2. Add a NAS location to Windows 10 Index

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand the concern as you would like to add the NAS location to Windows 10 Indexing feature.

In this scenario, we would suggest you to perform these steps and check.

    1. Press Windows + E key to open File Explorer
    2. Click on This PC from the left pane of File Explorer.
    3. Then on the right pane, expand the Network locations.
    4. Right click in the Network locations and select
Add a network location from the context menu.
    5. Click Next on Add Network Location wizard.
    6. Follow the onscreen steps
    7. On the completing the Add Network Location
      screen, click Finish.
    8. The new network location will now open in File Explorer.
    9. Open the Control Panel, click on the
Indexing Options icon, and close the Control Panel.
    10. Click on the Modify button.
    11. Check (add) or
      uncheck (remove)
the locations you want to be indexed, and click on
      OK
      when finished

However, for issues related to NAS drive, let me help to point you in the right direction. I would suggest you to post your query in
    TechNet
    Forums
where you will find professionals with expertise on NAS for Windows 10 and that would be the appropriate forum.

  3. How to add NAS shared folders to Win10 Library

Thanks for the reply and suggestions. The steps took me to the same place. I get the error:
This network location can’t be included because it is not indexed error message.

I've tried typing the path instead of browsing, using the \\servername\share. Same result. Error about index.

    Thanks.

    Windows 10 network folders indexing

Absolutely, sorry if I sounded harsh, you are trying to help!

It's just that it seems as if Windows is relying on the other computer's index to search on shared folder. As the NAS is not a Windows computer, it doesn't do that.

Yes, I understand that the Enhanced is only adding locations but you know Microsoft, it may actually do something else! *Biggrin

I will try searching as you suggest on my other PC later on but for now it seems that the NAS is out of the question, which is disappointing.

    Thanks!
