Windows 10: Microsoft Photos/Terminating App

I do not use this app to edit photo's yet it is saving a copy each and every time I make an edit on another program. I have checked the setting's and have everything turned off. Should I terminate the app or is there a setting I need to change. It's actually disruptive and bogs down the computer, then I have to delete all the photo's. I have a friend who has the same issue.I appreciate any suggestions. Thank you in advance.

The Photos app brings together pictures from all your devices using OneDrive, so that you can browse them by date, album or folder. It also automatically enhances photos, and creates albums for you, to showcase your best shots.

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps:

Method 1:

I suggest you to change the Default apps in the setting app and verify the result. You may follow the steps in the below:

• Go to settings and system.
  
• Click on Default Apps and select the appropriately.
  

Method 2:

I suggest you to reinstall Photo app using the PowerShell command
and reinstall using the Windows store. Follow the below steps.

• Open the　Start　menu, type　Windows PowerShell　in the search bar.
  
• Right click on the　Windows　PowerShell　and select　Run as　administrator.
  
• Enter the below command to uninstall the Photo app.
  

• 　　get-appxpackage　　*Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage

Problems with Photos App Windows 10

Terminate, Repair, and Reset app is one of the effective methods to solve the
Photos App issue and the steps to follow are as below:

1. Press down the Windows button along with the letter I to open the Settings window.
2. After that, from the Settings window click on Apps.
3. Next, scroll down the right-hand side window until you find the Microsoft Photos option.
   
4. Further, click on Advanced options. that is under Microsoft Photos.
5. From this window, continue with the following options (Terminate> Repair> Reset) one-by-one until the issue seems to be resolved.

If still, the problem exists, then try further methods:

• Re-install App
• Re-register Photos App
• Update Windows OS

Since the language on your PC is already set to Australian English, then I suggest that you reset your Microsoft Photos app. Note that the app's data will be deleted once you reset it.

To reset the Photos app, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
2. Locate and select Photos from the list of apps.
3. Click Advanced options, then click Reset.
