Windows 10: Microsoft plans for a new Action Center with Windows Core OS

Windows Core OS, a modular and adaptive version of Windows intended to run on foldable devices could well have a new Action Center. According to a new piece of information discovered by us, Microsoft might be developing a new version of Action Center exclusively for Windows Core OS.

This is suggested by the LinkedIn profile of a Microsoft engineer, which was discovered by us earlier today. The LinkedIn page points to more work being done on the new platform as it mentions ‘Windows Core OS version of Action Center’.

‘Develop the Windows Core OS (WCOS) variation of Action Center,’ reads the profile of the engineer who is working on Windows Shell. It didn’t reveal much except for the fact that Windows Core OS is still being developed and there could be a new Action Center.

A report recently revealed that Microsoft’s upcoming foldable Surface device will run a version of Windows named ‘Windows Core OS (WCOS)’ and it would be capable of running Android apps.

Windows Core OS is optimized for the dual-screen device and Centaurus could be the first hardware from Microsoft to run this OS variant. Centaurus may come with two 9-inch displays, each with 4:3 aspect ratio and Lakefield processor from Intel, which is only 10mn thin and should offer better battery backup.

Disable Action Center in Windows 7?

Unfortunately that doesn't disable Action Center, all it does it cause Acution Center to bitch about the Security Center service not running.

Action Center seems to be a different beast from Security Center...

And telling it to not display any messages gets it out of the way, the same way disabling the icon in the suggestions above does, but Action Center is still enabled and running.

 

Windows 10 Action Center Not Working

Windows 10 Home / v 1607 / OS build 14393.693

Action Center has displayed "No new notifications" for the past 3 days (since 2/21/2017). The only automatic updates that have been installed are/is: Adobe Flash Player.

I have tried all the steps listed above with no success. I also tried turning notifications off, then rebooting, then turning it on, then rebooting. Still no joy. Any other suggestions?

Microsoft spoke at length about Azure Cloud, Office 365, Xamarin, cross-platform development, Skype, chat bots, and the Universal Windows Platform during its two streaming keynotes at Build 2016. What the company didn’t speak about at length were new Windows 10 features. In a sort of cursory glance, Build 2016 attendees were given the high-level bullet points about an upcoming Anniversary Update coming to Windows 10 users, and that was seemingly all.

However, being a developer-centric event, it appears Microsoft would rather save its list of upcoming Windows 10 features for more focused and intimate developer sessions. During a session titled Notification Futures: Action Center in the Cloud and the Windows Notification Platform, developers were given an in-depth fifty-minute walkthrough of all the features coming to Windows 10 notifications and Action Center.
