Windows 10: Microsoft Print to PDF file size relative large

I have a text document that contains 95 pages with black and white text only.If I use Microsoft Print to PDF, the file size is 45033KBIf I use another PDF printer such as PDF Creator, the file size is only 594KBI prefer to use Microsoft Print to PDF if the file size can be reduced.Any suggestion?

Microsoft Print to pdf Printer - file size

I'm trying to print to PDF using "Microsoft Print to pdf Printer". The test page size is 237 K. When I use another PDF printer, the file size of the test page vary from 27 to 55 K. What is the reason that the file is that large? I can't find any writable
property that can reduce the file size, does it exist? My app prints a large amount of pdf files programmatically to Network destination, so the size is important.

Print to PDF files too large

Another observation to add.

When printing reports from our application using Win10's "MS Print to PDF", the resulting PDF file size is ~ 10x larger than expected.

If we instead print the same report from our application to the 'MS XPS Document Writer' the resulting OXPS file size is just a fraction (~1/20) of the PDF size.

Now if we open that OXPS file in the MS XPS Viewer and print it again using the 'MS Print to PDF' printer the resulting PDF is now ~12 time larger than expected.

These basic tests using the MS products clearly show the unusual large file size change in behavior when printing to PDF on Win10.

The feedback from our customers who have also encountered this change after updating to Win10 suggests they will delay updating their remaining seats to Win10 until this is resolved or a solution is provided.

There are several reasons why the scanned file as PDF gets too large. Here are the most common causes:

• Dot Per Inch (DPI) - Most scanners will use 300 DPI for scanning images, which is the minimum DPI for the images that were printed after scanning. However, 72 DPI should be already enough for a PDF that is for screen reading.
• Saving the document as colored - Use black and white instead of color when scanning images to lessen file size. Make sure that any color settings such as
  Color Depth are also decreased.

If the suggestions have been tried but the PDF file size is still too large, the next option is to check the PDF software that is performing the conversion itself.
