Windows 10: Microsoft provides details on Windows 10 version 21H1 release (WHCP)

The Windows 10, version 21H1 release will not bring updates to the Windows Hardware Compatibility Program and will follow the same guidelines as 20H2. Below are more details with respect to all WHCP-related activities.

Windows Hardware Compatibility Program (WHCP) activities:

WHCP requirements â No change. Windows 10, version 2004 requirements remain applicable for Windows 10, version 21H1 release.

Hardware Lab kit â No change. Since WHCP requirements will persist in Windows 10, version 21H1, the HLK will also remain the same. There will not be a new HLK release in Windows 10, version 21H1. As both Windows 10, version 2004 and 21H1 OS can be used for Windows 10, version 2004 qualification, they will be recognized as meeting the Windows 10, version 2004 qualification.

Errata â No change. All Windows 10, version 2004 errata will continue to be valid for Windows 10, version 20H2 and version 21H1 release.

HLK playlist â No change. HLK version 2004 playlist can be used for Windows 10, version 2004, version 20H2 and version 21H1 release.

Driver signature â No change. Drivers that meet all the applicable Windows 10, version 2004 requirements will be digitally signed with the same signature attributes.

Submission â No change. Windows 10, version 2004, version 20H2 and version 21H1 OS can be used for WHCP submission.

Windows 10, version 20H2 release will not bring updates to the Windows Hardware Compatibility Program and follow the same pattern as 19H2. Given below are more details with respect to all related WHCP activities.

Windows 10 19H2 Release will not bring updates to WHCP

Compared to the prior Windows releases, we have made flexibilities into the WHCP in 19H2 release, our intent is to enable partner to focus on the quality aspect of products, and less about the oriented activities.

Windows Hardware Compatibility program (WHCP) activities:

WHCP requirements – No change. Windows 10, version 1903 requirements remain applicable for windows 19H2 release.

Hardware Lab kit – No change. Since WHCP requirements will persist in 19H2, HLK will also remain the same. There will not be new HLK release in 19H2. While both windows 10, version 1903 (19H1) OS can be used for windows 10, version 1903 qualification, they will be recognized as meeting the windows 10. Version 1903 qualification.

Errata – No change. All Windows 10, version 1903 errata will continue to be valid for Windows 19H2 release.

HLK playlist – No change. HLK version 1903 playlist can be used for both Windows 10, version 1903 and 19H2 release.

Driver signature – No change. Drivers meeting all the applicable Windows 10, version 1903 requirements, will be digitally signed with “v100.x86.19H1” or “v100.x64.19H1” signature attributes.

Submission – No change. Both Windows 10, version1903 and 19H2(RTM) OS can be used for WHCP submission.

WHCP qualification – Windows 10, version 1903

Required OS version – Either Windows 10, version 1903 or 19H2(RTM)

HLK version – HLK version 1903
