Windows 10: Microsoft Rating format in MKVs

I want to add metadata to MKVs that can be seen using Windows explorer, I managed to add all except for the rating. I can set rating=50 but it just shows blank fields if rating is set. I also tried setting it to the binary value, but that didn't help either.It would be really helpful to know what Windows Explorer expects for the Rating metadata for MKVs.

Thank you for the update. Many blue screen errors can be resolved by making sure that Windows is up to date. In the search box on the taskbar, enter
Windows Update, select Windows Update. On the Windows Update page, select
Check for updates.

Please follow the steps to run System Maintenance troubleshooter
on the computer:

• Type “Control Panel” on the search box.
• Click on Troubleshooting.
• Click on View all option on the left side of the Windows.
• Click on System Maintenance option.
• Click on Next and follow the onscreen instructions to troubleshoot the issue.

As the issue is occurring only when playing .MKV formats. I would suggest you to avoid playing this format of file as it may cause some serious issue. Thank you.

 

Support for MKV and WEBM format

I honestly don't know about .Webm formats but Movies & TV plays .mkv movie formats quite well on my computer.

You've probably done this but you can try:

• Right-Click on the movie you intend to play.
• Open With Movies & TV.

That should do it!

 

Is there any player to play the video file .mkv format?

Hi. I have a lumia 925. please let me know whether Microsoft has included MKV video format for this windows phone 8.1. If not this is a kind request whether to Microsoft to include this to format to your next update since MKV format is much popular in
1080p videos. Also, please let me know how to play a MKV movie/ video using Microsoft certified apps which are available there in store (free).
