Windows 10: Microsoft refusing to send verify code to email

its 2024 and this is still an issue ive been waiting an hour for this code and still havent gotten it

Windows Live Mail 2012 refuses to send emails, claims they're spam

My wife uses Windows Live Mail 2012 and says it refuses to send emails, claiming they're spam. This is even replying to someone who is in her contacts list. I have run several different virus checks and nothing comes up. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. TIA

 

Verify identity asks me to confirm backup email instead of sending verification code

My Microsoft account wants me to verify my identity by sending a verification code to my backup email.

Fine. Send the code, I'll access the backup email and get the code

But no, instead it asks me to enter my backup email. Why? This is phishing for information.

Microsoft already knows my backup email. I know it. Why won't it just email the verification code?

There are several reasons why you are not able to receive the verification code needed to set up your Microsoft account.

First, we recommend that you check your Junk folder and look for the missing email there.

Second, we need to double check that we have provided the correct email address when signing up.

Lastly, you may opt to add an email alias in your Microsoft account as alternative email sign in and try to send the email verification to that email address instead.
