On 25th August 2022, Microsoft released another Windows Cumulative Update KB5016691 build no 22000.918 Preview to Windows 11 64bit v21H2.

On 26th August 2022, I manually downloaded the update file and I installed this update successfully without errors on top of Windows 11 64bit 21H2 build no 22000.856.

Highlights of this update KB5016691::

01) Addresses an issue related to USB printing that might cause your printer to malfunction after you restart it or reinstall it.

02) Addresses an issue that prevents Windows 11 SE from trusting some Microsoft Store applications. This might prevent you from downloading the untrusted app.

03 )Addresses an issue that might cause certain Bluetooth audio headsets to stop playing after a progress bar adjustment.

i installed this update KB5016691 by using Dism application

Method 1

Step 1 Download this update KB5016691 from this site

Step 2 Rename the file name to KB5016691.msu

Step 3 Copy renamed file to C:\

Step 4 Open the command prompt with admin rights

Step 5 Type below command and press enter

DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\KB5016691.msu

Step 6 Wait until installed successfully and then restart windows.

Method 2

Create Temp folder in C:\

Create Cab folder in C:\Temp\

Copy this file KB5016691.msu to C:\Temp\

then type below commands anc press enter

expand -F:* C:\Temp\KB5016691.msu C:\Temp\Cab

DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\Temp\cab\SSU-22000.910-x64.cab

DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\Temp\cab\Windows10.0-KB5016691-x64.cab

after installation, restart windows.

Windows Media Player 11 misses release day

Microsoft had scheduled Windows Media Player 11 for final release on October 24th, 2006. Microsoft has delayed release of the next version of its media player to an unspecified date. "As with any release, quality is our top priority, and we felt we needed a few additional days to bring Windows Media Player 11 up to the high quality standards we--and our customers and partners--demand." Microsoft did not mention exactly what part of Windows Media Player 11 didn't meet the bar. Microsoft has no defined date of when Windows Media Player 11 will be released, though rumors around the internet claim that Microsoft will release it on October 30th.
