Windows 10: Microsoft releases a new wildlife focused Windows 10 wallpaper pack

Microsoft has just released a new wallpaper for Windows 10 and it’s available for free from the Microsoft Store. The new free wallpaper pack for Windows 10 features Antlers and Horns wildlife.

It’s another free Windows 10 wallpaper that was published by Microsoft on October 30 and it can be downloaded on any Windows 10 PC from the Microsoft Store.

The wallpaper pack titled “Antlers and Horns” contains 14 free images which can be used as desktop background.

“Did you know male deer, moose, and elk have antlers that shed every year, but goats, antelope, and gazelles keep their horns forever, both males and females? Take a closer look in this 14-image set, free for Windows 10 Themes. These images are to be used as desktop wallpaper only,” Microsoft Store description reads.

While it’s called Windows 10 themes, it’s important to understand that the package does not contain sounds and or other customization. You will only get 14 wallpapers which can be used as the background for your desktop. The accent colour changes to orange after installing the themes.

Your PC should be running Windows 10 Creators Update or newer. We have tested the wallpaper pack on Windows 10 October 2018 Update and Windows 10 April 2018 Update, and it works fine.

You can grab the wallpaper from here and install it from the Microsoft Store. Once downloaded and installed, you will find the package in Settings > Personalization > Themes. You would need to select the wallpaper pack and just change the desktop wallpaper from the context menu which can be accessed by right-clicking the desktop.

Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) Release Dates

The guys over at Neowin.net have managed to get their hands on the internal schedule for the release of Windows XP Service Pack 3.

• April 14, 2008: Support is available for the release version of Service Pack 3 for Windows XP
• April 21, 2008: Original Equipment Manufacturers, Volume License, Connect, and MSDN and TechNet subscribers
• April 29, 2008: Microsoft Update, Windows Update, Download Center
• June 10, 2008: Automatic Updates

Windows Home Server Power Pack 1 Public Beta Released

Last month we brought information about the first Power Pack for Windows Home Server OS. Today, Microsoft announced the availability of the Windows Home Server Power Pack 1 Release Candidate for public beta testing. Again, this pack should fix the data corruption errors (KB #946676) with Windows Home Server that have plagued the OS since its release. Additional list of known issues are available on the Windows Home Server forums. Download the Windows Home Server Power Pack 1 RC from Microsoft Connect (registration is required).

Note: In an email sent to all beta testers Microsoft suggests that even with the public Power Pack 1 RC installed, users should back up all their files just in case "something happens".

Microsoft Releases Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2

Microsoft today released Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2, to all users. A Service Pack is a periodical cumulative of updates released between a period of time, that also introduces new features to the OS. For both operating systems based on the Windows 6.1 kernel, Service Pack 1 will provide all product and security updates released to date. A couple of new features that will benefit Windows 2008 R2 are also bundled. These include Dynamic Memory and RemoteFX.

Dynamic Memory lets Hyper-V administrators pool available memory on a physical host and dynamically distribute it to any virtual machine(s) running on that host, while RemoteFX lets Windows Server 2008 R2 administrators provide a rich end user desktop virtualization experience by delivering vivid content, independent of any graphics stack, to server-hosted virtual and session-based desktops.
