That's when the free upgrade ends so there's no reason for MS to push it anymore past that date.

  2. That's the indication, it will be uninstalled after that date. There would be serious complaints after that date if you did the upgrade and then were asked for money to activate. *Shock I can't see them not killing it, unless, they extend the offer. I don't see them doing that though. If you haven't done the free upgrade by now, you never will.

I really doubt they will extend the free upgrade offer. But who knows... they might.

And I fully understand and it stinks but some people act like children.

  5. Old stock of PC's with Windows 7 or 8/8.1 must be gone or almost gone. Anyone buying a new PC/device now is going to get Windows 10 preinstalled. That's a sale for Microsoft. No real need to keep pushing the free upgrade. Like I said, if they haven't done it already, they aren't ever going to do it.

The Microsoft Community Forum is just nuts! They think everybody there actually works for Microsoft and tows the Microsoft line. They just don't get that MVP's don't actually work for Microsoft and don't get paid to be an MVP. If your a Microsoft employee you cannot be an MVP.

There are times when I wondered if what I said would cost me my MVP. But if you can't be honest and give them honest feed back what's the point?

  6. Having used Macs for over 10 years, They are not perfect by any means, and it was due to a problem machine that I started to look at windows again. Since Steve Jobs passed Apple has lost it's way (imho) and as i didn't like the way the OS was going, 10 looked good so i made the switch.

Yes i agree MS are pushing (forcing) Win 10, but as the free offer is coming to an end this maybe there way of making sure nobody misses out on the freebie. After all they don't want loads of complaints saying if we'd known we'd have to pay after the 29th July we would have upgraded before. At least (almost) everyone will know!

  7. Except for the 2 Billion devices target.
After all of the times MS has gone on about it, if they don't reach it, the stock market jerks will go crazy.

I don't advocate jumping to OSX, but I also won't say it isn't a good idea. It depends on what you do. My family grew up Microsoft since I was working for them during my kids early years. My son, who is a professional musician, jumped to Mac after getting his music degree. It wasn't because the Mac is better at music PC. His HP did fine in college. However, Windows 8.x, and then 10 don't properly support the music software he had on Windows 7. The company offered free licensing to transfer to OSX, so he did.

In his words he initially was afraid he had made a mistake because of the initial cost. However, by the end of the week he said he would never go back. He has his Macbook with him right now on deployment with the Air Force in the middle east. He has had zero issues. So I wouldn't necessarily say going to a Mac is a bad idea. It depends on what applications your run, the cost of moving those, and the horsepower you need. For me, a Mac probably isn't practical. To be honest, I watched Microsoft's build conference via online. If they actually stick to their strategy, a year from now Windows users will be happy again. As long as Microsoft doesn't bone themselves again and try and up end everything six months after that.
