Microsoft releases cumulative updates for all Windows versions

Microsoft released cumulative updates for all supported versions of the company's Windows operating system on October 3, 2019. The updates are cumulative and address two issues, printing issues and a feature on demand installation issue, that were introduced in earlier updates.

The updates address the following issue:

    1. An issue with the print spooler service that could cause print jobs to fail. It could also lead to applications closing unexpectedly or throw errors.

The updates for Microsoft's Windows 10 operating system address the following issue as well.

    1. An issue with the operating system's Features on Demand system that would cause feature installations to fail; this caused issues when trying to installing the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 and others. The error message that would show up was "The changes couldn’t be complete. Please reboot your computer and try again. Error code: 0x800f0950".

The company released the following updates:

Microsoft controversially brings cumulative updates to W7 & W8.1

TIME TO grab your indignation sticks and riot, because Microsoft has taken away one of the main things that made keeping Windows 7 and 8 attractive.

Starting in October 2016, Windows 7 and 8.1 (Windows 8 being the defunct ginger stepchild) will receive cumulative updates once a month instead of individual ones.

You may recall that this was a trick already used by Microsoft to bury a version of its GWX nagware last year, secreted as it was inside an important security update.

True. Anyone remembers how long it took to update vanilla Windows 7 with all updates released just 6 months later. It took ages even on high end systems. Windows 10 with cumulative takes like few minutes a year after vanilla was released.
