Windows 10: Microsoft releases four new free wallpaper pack for Windows 10

Microsoft recently released four new wallpaper packs for Windows 10 and you can download them from the Microsoft Store to change the look of your desktop. With Windows 10, Microsoft has tried to make the Microsoft Store (formerly known as Windows Store) one destination for everything including apps, games and even themes.

In The Desert

In The Desert is another new free Windows 10 wallpaper pack that can be installed to customize your desktops. You can choose from 20 HD background images of desktop landscapes and if you’re interested, you can download this wallpaper pack from here.

“Traverse the sand dunes of the Sahara, fly over Death Valley, and move with camels across Erg Chebbi in Morocco with these 20 images of desert landscapes, free for Windows 10 Themes,” Microsoft explains.

Coffee Art

As the name suggests, Coffee Art includes a set of images that features a mug of coffee. In this free wallpaper pack, you’ll get 18-image set for your Windows 10 device. You can use these as desktop wallpaper only.

Animals of Yellowstone

This wallpaper pack has images of bison, roar and bears from the Yellowstone National Park. You will get a 14-image set that you can see as the desktop wallpaper only.

Amazon Rainforest


As the name suggests, this Windows 10 wallpaper pack takes you in the lush depths of the Amazon River and you can install it to find the 18-images set of natural wonders.

Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) Release Dates

The guys over at Neowin.net have managed to get their hands on the internal schedule for the release of Windows XP Service Pack 3.

• April 14, 2008: Support is available for the release version of Service Pack 3 for Windows XP
• April 21, 2008: Original Equipment Manufacturers, Volume License, Connect, and MSDN and TechNet subscribers
• April 29, 2008: Microsoft Update, Windows Update, Download Center
• June 10, 2008: Automatic Updates

Windows Home Server Power Pack 1 Public Beta Released

Last month we brought information about the first Power Pack for Windows Home Server OS. Today, Microsoft announced the availability of the Windows Home Server Power Pack 1 Release Candidate for public beta testing. Again, this pack should fix the data corruption errors (KB #946676) with Windows Home Server that have plagued the OS since its release. Additional list of known issues are available on the Windows Home Server forums. Download the Windows Home Server Power Pack 1 RC from Microsoft Connect (registration is required).

Note: In an email sent to all beta testers Microsoft suggests that even with the public Power Pack 1 RC installed, users should back up all their files just in case "something happens".

Microsoft Releases Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2

Microsoft today released Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2, to all users. A Service Pack is a periodical cumulative of updates released between a period of time, that also introduces new features to the OS. For both operating systems based on the Windows 6.1 kernel, Service Pack 1 will provide all product and security updates released to date. A couple of new features that will benefit Windows 2008 R2 are also bundled. These include Dynamic Memory and RemoteFX.

Dynamic Memory lets Hyper-V administrators pool available memory on a physical host and dynamically distribute it to any virtual machine(s) running on that host, while RemoteFX lets Windows Server 2008 R2 administrators provide a rich end user desktop virtualization experience by delivering vivid content, independent of any graphics stack, to server-hosted virtual and session-based desktops.
