Windows 10: Microsoft releases new "In the Desert" wallpaper pack for Windows 10

Earlier this month, Microsoft released a new free wallpaper pack called “In the Desktop” for Windows 10 on the Microsoft Store. It’s a simple wallpaper pack and it doesn’t offer any other customization option for devices.

First spotted by us, the wallpaper pack “In the Desert” was published in the Microsoft Store on August 13. Microsoft has included a collection of photos of the desktop in the wallpaper pack that would definitely look good on the desktop.

“Traverse the sand dunes of the Sahara, fly over Death Valley, and move with camels across Erg Chebbi in Morocco with these 20 images of desert landscapes, free for Windows 10 Themes,” Microsoft writes in the description of the wallpaper pack.

It’s not something that could blow your mind but the collection of high-quality images that Microsoft has included will definitely change the look of your desktop.

As you might have guessed already, the wallpaper pack is only available for Windows 10 desktop and you can download it from the Microsoft Store.

Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) Release Dates

The guys over at Neowin.net have managed to get their hands on the internal schedule for the release of Windows XP Service Pack 3.

• April 14, 2008: Support is available for the release version of Service Pack 3 for Windows XP
• April 21, 2008: Original Equipment Manufacturers, Volume License, Connect, and MSDN and TechNet subscribers
• April 29, 2008: Microsoft Update, Windows Update, Download Center
• June 10, 2008: Automatic Updates

Windows Home Server Power Pack 1 Public Beta Released

Last month we brought information about the first Power Pack for Windows Home Server OS. Today, Microsoft announced the availability of the Windows Home Server Power Pack 1 Release Candidate for public beta testing. Again, this pack should fix the data corruption errors (KB #946676) with Windows Home Server that have plagued the OS since its release. Additional list of known issues are available on the Windows Home Server forums. Download the Windows Home Server Power Pack 1 RC from Microsoft Connect (registration is required).

Note: In an email sent to all beta testers Microsoft suggests that even with the public Power Pack 1 RC installed, users should back up all their files just in case "something happens".

Microsoft Releases Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2

Microsoft today released Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2, to all users. A Service Pack is a periodical cumulative of updates released between a period of time, that also introduces new features to the OS. For both operating systems based on the Windows 6.1 kernel, Service Pack 1 will provide all product and security updates released to date. A couple of new features that will benefit Windows 2008 R2 are also bundled. These include Dynamic Memory and RemoteFX.

Dynamic Memory lets Hyper-V administrators pool available memory on a physical host and dynamically distribute it to any virtual machine(s) running on that host, while RemoteFX lets Windows Server 2008 R2 administrators provide a rich end user desktop virtualization experience by delivering vivid content, independent of any graphics stack, to server-hosted virtual and session-based desktops.
