So imo Pro will basically become no better than Win 10 home edition but cost more.

    :)

Really? It hasn't occurred to you that MS have left it until just after the inclusive upgrade date has been passed before breaking out the bad news? I think the reason is pretty obvious, personally.

Is that all, what MS has in mind, LIMITING USER ACTIVITY?!
People will be more and more locked.

    Hi,

If it's this Anniversary edition they are talking about then policy editor is still there right like it was before.
Some of the posters above are misreading the message it appears.

Microsoft removes some policies from Windows 10 Pro

    Hi,

Sure, I understand that. Being on the Insider Preview program and all that.
There are still workarounds possible but not through gpedit any longer.

Basically, what it amounts to is that MS wants to be sure it can push anything it catches money for to our W10 machines.
I don't think the IT guys are going to like that.

Wasn't Cortana always hard to disable right from the first editions of W10 ?
According to MS it was/is an integral part of the OS and therefore could not be removed. Well, yeah....Sort of... LOL.

    Cheers, *Wink

This is opening a Pandora's box imo. What control will Microsoft take away from businesses in the future?

  10. Adalwar Win User
In Windows 10 they already took the Control over Windows Update, so it is not surprising that MS will take Control over Machines in future.
In windows 8.1 and 10 you can not use Drive C: as a normally, it is strong limited.
    And the Show goes on.

I run Windows 10 with nothing but Drive C:. Works fine for its purpose. Does not complain. So I'm not sure what you mean here.

Microsoft removes some policies from Windows 10 Pro

Really not happy about this. I always disable the lock screen as I have no use for it & it just adds a unwanted step to me logging into windows, I also used some of the other policies that are being removed to tweak Windows 10 to my usage. I paid for the pro version so I would be able to do this & now MS has the nerve to remove them. This is only being done as most sensible folk disable the app spam on the start menu. so guess what is coming to a lock screen near you soon.

    Hi,

I can assure you that Cortana is still running, alive and kicking. You just can't get rid of her that easily.
Just check Taskmanager and be awed. *Wink

Apparently MS is really trying to make PC enthusiasts switch to Linux *Wink I've always been a strong supporter of Windows. But with the latest developments like how they tried to trick users into upgrading to Windows 10, the promise to provide unlimited OneDrive storage that has been broken because some people actually made use of it, the privacy issues and now an updated that limits peoples choices of how they want to run the OS they paid for... I'm not that sure anymore if I really want to stick around. Good thing I decided to start learning Linux. Now I've reached a level that would actually allow me to ditch Windows.
