Windows 10: Microsoft Russian Mnemonics on-screen keyboard broken in tablet mode

The built-in Microsoft Russian language Mnemonics on-screen keyboard is broken. At least letters Ч and Щ are not working. On one machine Surface Pro 3 nothing is output at all when pressing on the buttons with those characters, on another I get nothing and/or weird characters but not the proper letters.


The problem is specific to Microsoft Russian Mnemonics keyboard layout. It does not occur with say custom keyboard layouts.


I have encountered this problem on Surface Pro 3 with Windows 10 version 1909 and version 20H2. I have also tested this on my custom built PC with Windows 10 version 2004, after switching to tablet mode. It is clear that this is a general Windows 10 problem with that particular keyboard layout.


I found another question regarding this matter, which was wrongly relegated to Surface Pro 7 section and was not answered correctly at all. That question is closed for input.

I understand that two letters are missing on the Russian Mnemonic keyboard.

I suggest that you refer the following thread and try the suggestions provided by
AlexVas on Jan 16, 2013.

Russian mnemonic keyboard provided in Windows 10 is defective. It is incomplete: two letters ч and э are missing.

 

Ukrainian Russian mnemonic keyboard

Hi Tato0,

there is no Ukrainian mnemonic keyboard unfortunately. And any Russian keyboard (mnemonic too) does not contain Ukrainian letters.

You may use normal Ukrainian keyboard and add transparent sticky Ukrainian letterset to keyboard.
