    Microsoft Safety Scanner reports 26 detections during scan, but did not clean the malware...


    I booted into Safe Mode with Networking earlier. Then I downloaded the latest version of Microsoft Safety Scanner MSS from https://docs.microsoft.com.I then ran separate but simultaneous, context scans for my System Drive C SSD and Data Drive D HDD. The program detected the VirTool.Defender.TamperingRestore virus or Trojan? I am not sure, and was successfully able to remove it from Drive C. However, the software reports 26 detections during scan for Drive D, but did not clean the malware it says it did not find any viruses after the scan. Just to be sure, I re-ran both

    As per the description, you are experiencing issue with malwares detected on Microsoft.com and gets an error message: “Google Safe Browsing recently detected malware on account.microsoft.com.
    Websites that are normally safe are sometimes infected with malware. The malicious content comes from 38zu.cn, a known malware distributor” on the system.

    I certainly understand your concern.

    I would suggest you to run a full computer scan with the Microsoft Safety Scanner to make sure that the computer is virus free.

    Note: Any data files that are infected may only be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.

    Update Issue Safety Scanner

    If you are using Windows Defender, you won't need Safety Scanner, as Windows Defender contains all malwares which are in Safety Scanner list and it has additional protection like cloud-protection, just make sure it is update and run a full system scan with
    it.

    Do you have access to those files which has been detected with ESET?

    Could you post back the list of malware?
