Microsoft "Saved Passwords" vs "iCloud Passwords"

I have a laptop using Windows 11, an old desktop using Windows 10 too old to be upgraded and an iPhone. I store most files on OneDrive. Typically, I really do not care whether I am synchronized "across all devices." I work in a way that is comfortable and efficient for me. At some time possibly with introduction of Windows 10, Microsoft added a feature to save USERIDs and Passwords in a "secure" way. It looks to me like these Userids and Passwords are stored locally on my laptop and desktop which is OK since they don't leave my house. At a latter time when I switched from an Andro

Hi, I’m Nicole, I’ll be happy to help you out today.

It sounds like you're experiencing some confusion and dissatisfaction with the way password management is currently working on your devices. To turn off iCloud Passwords on your Windows devices, you can follow these steps:

Open the iCloud for Windows app on your computer.

    Click on "Account Settings"

Click on "Manage" under the Security section.

Uncheck the box for "iCloud Passwords"

This will turn off iCloud Passwords and prevent it from managing your passwords on your Windows devices. It's important to note that you will lose access to any passwords that you have stored in iCloud Passwords and may have to manually enter them again in the future. If you use the same password for multiple websites, it may be useful to use a password manager to keep track of them.

It's also worth noting that turning off iCloud Passwords on your Windows devices will not affect the password management on your iPhone. The iCloud Passwords feature on your iPhone is managed separately and will continue to work as normal.

If you have any other question or concern, let me know.

It looks to me like these Userids and Passwords are stored locally on my laptop and desktop (which is OK since they don't leave my house). At a latter time (when I switched from an Android phone to and iPhone, I loaded some sort of iCloud application onto my Windows devices so that I could easily get to the photos that I take with the iPhone. Probably as a result of this action, a related app (iCloud Passwords) has sort of taken over the password management on my two computers. I really don't like this, but I am not sure how to turn it off. If I do manager to turn the iCloud passwords off, do I create additional problems for myself?
