Windows 10: Microsoft Sending Verification Code To Land Line Telephone

I am attempting to add a telephone number for Microsoft to contact me if they detect suspicious account activity. Microsoft says they sent a code a code to that number I specified. This is a "Land Line" phone number not a mobile phone. I don't know of any way to look for a code on a land line phone - I doubt there is a way. I don't see any other option to receive the code. Why doesn't Microsoft give you an option to have the code sent in an email ? Most other "institutions" give you options.

Microsoft Verification

Personal Verification Problem:

I changed my Phone Number ( Land Line ).

I went into my Account & changed to my new phone number .

When asked to verify I am me, it continues to use my old number, I recognize the last 2 numbers.

So, a wrong number is used and I don't have a text phone to send me a verification code.

Microsoft used to use a landline phone number to send a verification code.

It is senseless for me incur the expense of a textphone to rarely contact only Microsoft.

How can I remedy this?

Hello. Is your hotmail email account blocked? They are trying to send you a text message to input a verification code and unblock it. You can't send a text message over a land line. So you should give them an alternate email address to send the verification
code to. If you don't have an alternate email address, you should fill out this form:

Sometimes the code won't be sent until your Account is verified in Settings > Accounts > Your Info.

If that's not it then here are the steps Microsoft recommends for troubleshooting verification Code arrival:

If nothing else works then I'd Contact Microsoft Support at Contact Us - Microsoft Support. Explain the problem to the Virtual Assistant and keep asking for an agent, to get chat or a call back on week days.

Report back results for each step so I know what else to suggest.
