Windows 10: Microsoft Store and Photos do not open

I was attempting to open Photos previously, but got a file system error -2147219196. This prevents me from viewing image files in Photos.I uninstalled Photos and attempted to open the Microsoft Store to reinstall, and it wouldn't open. I forced it to open with wsreset.exe and got this error:I followed an online guide, and it recommended I repair, then reset Microsoft Store. After doing so, I used wsreset.exe and now got this dialog box:I want to use Microsoft Store, resolve this file system error, and use Photos again. Lost default photo viewer after profile rebuild

Thanks Brink. I've tried those steps before i started searching Google. After the profile rebuild i don't have the Photo app listed to choose to make it default in either the system settings for default apps or the Open With option.

I can't even find it doing a search. Seems to have been removed somehow with the profile rebuild, which doesn't make sense.

Might be helpful to list what i've done I've done the open with check, the choose default program in the system menu, tried that in device manager default programs also. I've checked the programs and features Turn windows features on/off and it's not listed there (never thought it was but that was a suggestion), searched the MS Store, it's not listed there either.

I don't like playing in the registry unless i have defined steps and haven't found anything for this yet, just the Win7 version like in my OP.

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps:

Method 1:

I suggest you to change the Default apps in the setting app and verify the result. You may follow the steps in the below:

• Go to settings and system.
  
• Click on Default Apps and select the appropriately.
  

Method 2:

I suggest you to reinstall Photo app using the PowerShell command
and reinstall using the Windows store. Follow the below steps.

• Open the　Start　menu, type　Windows PowerShell　in the search bar.
  
• Right click on the　Windows　PowerShell　and select　Run as　administrator.
  
• Enter the below command to uninstall the Photo app.
  

• 　　get-appxpackage　　*Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage

Cannot Open Microsoft Store and Most of My Apps

Thank you for your reply.

Steps 1 through 3.5 failed. I can't get past the appxmanifest.xml error.

Observations:

• On the new user account I created, Mail and Calendar work but do not work in my original account.
• In my original account, Video Editor which I think is an extension of Photos opens then closes yet Photos itself works fine; Windows File Recovery is gone too (tried to uninstall it through start menu but couldn't).
• New apps appeared in both accounts.
• In both accounts the Store and Cortana are completely gone and ms:account entries in start menu under "other" remain.

I don't understand how I got this new influx of apps while the Store is gone (supposedly).

Is there any one here with the time to take a deeper dive into this with me?
