Windows 10: Microsoft Store apps keep downloading into C: drive

hello there, tried to install a game from microsoft store, it kept downloading it into C: drive.i tried changing the location in Settings>System>Storage>Change where new content is saved, and change "New apps will save to" option to D: drive.this didn't help,i found a solution here from someone who asked a similar question, which included editing stuff through regedit, but that solution only broke more, didn't fix the problem, heavily loaded my CPU, and locked me out of settings until i changed everything back.is there like ANY solution to this problem? i remember there used to appear

  Press Windows + E.
  
• 
  Click on This PC at the top left corner.
  
• 
  Click on C: Drive.
  
• 
  Click on Program files.
  
• 
  Click on Windows Apps.
