    Hi,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community!

I would suggest you to clear the cache memory of the Windows Store app.

    Try the following steps:

    • Press Windows + R keys to open Run window

    • Type wsreset.exe and hit enter.

Now try to open Windows store and see if that helps.

  4. Microsoft Store cannot be opened

Microsoft store crashes when I open the settings.

Thanks for reaching out! I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you.

To address the issue of the Microsoft Store crashing when you open the settings, and the error you encounter when trying to download Minecraft, you can follow these steps. This guide will help you take ownership of the Program Files\WindowsApps folder, remove the Microsoft Store, and reinstall it.

    Step-by-Step Guide

    1. Take Ownership of Program Files\WindowsApps

    1. Open File Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files.
    2. Right-click on the WindowsApps folder and select Properties.
    3. Go to the Security tab and click on the Advanced button.
    4. Click on the Change link next to the owner field.
    5. In the Enter the object name to select field, type your username or email (if using a Microsoft account) and click Check Names.
    6. Click OK to close the dialog.
    7. Check the box that says Replace owner on subcontainers and objects.
    8. Click Apply and then OK to apply the changes. This process may take some time.
    2. Remove the Microsoft Store

    1. Open PowerShell as an administrator. Right-click the Start button and select Windows PowerShell (Admin).
    2. Run the following command to remove the Microsoft Store:

    3. Rename the Problematic Files

    1. Navigate to the C:\Program Files\WindowsApps folder.
    2. Find and rename the following folders:
      • Microsoft.UI.Xaml.2.8_8.2310.30001.0_x64_8wekyb3d8bbwe
      • Microsoft.UI.Xaml.2.8_8.2310.30001.0_x86_8wekyb3d8bbwe
    3. You can rename them by adding .old at the end of the folder names.

    4. Reinstall the Microsoft Store

    1. Open PowerShell as an administrator again.
    2. Run the following command to reinstall the Microsoft Store:

    3. Alternatively, you can reset the Microsoft Store cache by running:

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, you can try the following additional methods:

    1. Clear the Microsoft Store Cache:
      • Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
      • Type wsreset.exe and press Enter. This will clear the cache and reopen the Microsoft Store automatically.
    2. Reset the Microsoft Store:
      • Press Windows key + I to open the Settings app.
      • Go to Apps > Apps & features.
      • Find Microsoft Store in the list, click on it, and select Advanced options.
      • Scroll down and click Reset.
    3. Run the Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter:
      • Press Windows key + I to open the Settings app.
      • Go to Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
      • Select Windows Store Apps and click Run the troubleshooter.
    4. Update Your Windows 10 System:
      • Press Windows key + I to open the Settings app.
      • Go to Update & Security > Windows Update.
      • Click Check for updates and install any available updates.

Please do let me know if the method I suggested works for you or if you need further assistance.
