Windows 10: Microsoft Store, fills up Temp. and Storage etc?

Microsoft Store, fills up Temp and Storage etc?

Have Windows 10,

Microsoft Store from Start. I do not do Microsoft Store. I shop at the Corner Store.

MSN Main Page Shows Microsoft Sore.

That same page shows I have 1900 points or something.

I do not want any points or whatever that is?

Microsoft Store shows in Settings Apps.

Can all of this be gotten rid of?

Delete the Store from apps,

Delete the Store from the Start.

Some way get rid of the 1900 points or whatever.?

I had 1200 points when I first noticed the Points in the upper right hand corner of the several Pages.

I see when I have the PC is on.

Just about any page show Microsoft Points.

Please advise how to do this?

Settings will not open, Edge has disappeared, and temp files are filling up c drive in Windows 10

My c drive filled completely with temp files a couple months ago, and at the same time I could not open settings (using the icon or the search box), or edge. At some point edge disappeared altogether - will not come up with a search. Microsoft Store icon
is missing. Through trial and error I was able to find and delete the temp files, but they are filling up again, and I do not have access to any of the settings functions to help. Temp files have increased by 30 gb in the last 10 days. I am not techy, but
can follow step by step instruction. Would really appreciate some help!

 

TEMP folder filling up with AppX files and canot be stopped

This may happen when Windows Update has broken some installed application
from the Microsoft Store, and the Store is striving mightily to correct
the problem.

I would suggest :

• First wait patiently a few days to see if the Store will manage to
  stabilize the situation.
  
• Run
  sfc /scannow.
  
• For applications that are not working, see Microsoft's
  
  Fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store
  
• To reinstall everything see
  
  How To Reinstall Store And Other Preinstalled Apps In Windows 10
  
• If your disk is filling up with these files and there is no end in sight,
  perform a
  
  Repair Install of Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade.
  

 

Windows 10 reports low disk space after filling up C:\Windows\Temp

This solution described here has worked for me (tested after several reboots). However, I should stress that a web search reveals that hundreds are having problems with C:\Windows\Temp filling up with garbage, especially with Windows 10 v1803. Exact causes appear to be variable so my solution will only apply in some cases. Feel free to add additional solutions...but keep them related specifically to C:\Windows\Temp.

My problem appears to be related to the in-built Windows Store app and the AppX Deployment Service. I disabled both as follows:

Disable the Store application using Group Policy Editor

Note: You may need Administrative privileges for this.

• WIN+R and type gpedit.msc
  
• User Configuration > Windows Components > Store
  
• Enable Turn off the Store application
  

Disable the AppX Deployment Service using Registry Editor

Note: Usual proviso here is to be careful when editing the registry! Changing this manually using services.msc does not work (Windows resets it to Manual or does not allow you to change it at all)

• WIN+R and type regedit.exe
  
• Navigate to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AppXSvc
  
• Change Start to 4
  
• This sets the service to Disabled
  

Reboot Windows and clear out C:\Windows\Temp

• Reboot Windows
  
• Open File Explorer and navigate to C:\Windows\Temp
  
• You may be asked for Administrative consent to enter this folder, agree to this
  
• Select all and choose Delete
  
• If Windows cannot delete a file because it is in use, just skip
  

The above steps worked for me and so far no new files have been added to C:\Windows\Temp.
