Windows 10: Microsoft Store hanging, create user account hanging, Smartscreen hanging.. corrupt Windows?

I got a computer from my brother that he gave up on because he ruined his video card. I swapped video card and it works great except..


This all started when I tried installing the Xbox app to play Xbox games on PC Game Pass.

-The installer for this application freezes every time I try it.

-Ran a bunch of troubleshooting suggestions from online and trying to avoid a full Windows reset.

-Tried Wsreset/Windows 10 Store cache clear.

-Tried Resetting Store app

-Tried Reset Windows Update components Script WuReset2.0.

-Tried ensuring necessary services are running Services.msc.

-The last resort is resintallation of Windows, or Repair install. I am hoping to avoid that if possible.

-Tried suggestions to get Xbox app from the Store, discovered Microsoft Store hangs and never loads get an error message that it failed

-Tried deleting my brother's user account Microsoft account/email and creating a new one for myself, but the user account creation process also hangs and fails.

-When booting up, the screen is black and nothing populates except the Windows button start menu option, for at least 15 minutes, then finally desktop appears. So I tried disabling a ton of start-up apps, and disabling anti-virus, turning off firewalls and windows security, finally Smart Screen was hanging for 10 minutes at a time so I turned that off as well.


With how smooth the machine runs games run fine, Google Chrome runs fine it seems like Windows is just a cluster at this point my brother is not the most tech-savvy person in the world. Hoping some of this info will help solve the issue without doing a complete Windows backup and reinstall.

-My only other thoughts were to try software like CCleaner and see if somehow something gets cleaned up.

-Is it still a thing in Windows 10 to defrag a harddrive? Is that a possible solution?


Please help, and if I need to "Repair or Reinstall Windows 10", I would love a more detailed description of what this entails. Would I have to start completely fresh and reinstall everything on the computer? Would it retain some program installations and files/folders within? I have a lot of stuff set up as it is intended to be an emulation rig mostly Retroarch, so it's not entirely simple to reinstall everything on this machine where it needs to be.

store hangs


Hi, I am new to this forum. I downloaded windows 10, the Microsoft store will not load and hangs. Suggestions on line have been windows logo key wsreset, windows logo x, command prompt sfc/scannow.
After running wsreset the loading image does not show in Microsoft store and still hangs. PLEASE HELP.

Well it's to no avail.... the hangs up are still occuring whenever i move my mouse...*Bang Head :banghead:

 

Windows 10 hangs!

Recent and late patch of latest Windows 10 by Microsoft via online, my Windows hangs without enabling me to Sign In/ Login. It boosts successfully and hangs at the Sign-In screen without showing/ listing Credential Users’ icons for clicking and signing. It just flips repeatedly this screen with only the background graphical image and without any listed Users’ Sign-In icons as it did before.

Is there anyways that enable me to get in Windows 10 via Safe-Mode like the previous Windows XP by pressing certain F8 or F10 Key? Once get in Windows 10, I could roil back or delete certain software that are likely interfering the prompting the “Sign-In” icons.

How about Recuse Disks created in Windows 10 in another PC/Notebook or Windows 8.1 Notebook can help???
