  1. Microsoft Store Login Issues due to Windows Hello PIN

Dear Community, I want to purchase an application on the Microsoft store, but I am having trouble because I cannot log in with my account.I received a new computer from my work which is a PC with Windows 11 installed. When I go to the Microsoft store, and click to pay for the app, I need to log in.I cannot log in with my work email as this is prohibited by Microsoft for some reason I think due to it being kind of like a government institution. When I log in with my personal email address, I am subsequently told that I need to use Windows Hello, for which I am prompted to insert my PIN.In my

    Login with PIN and Hello

    Hi Jean,

Windows 10 includes multiple options to sign-in to your account, including the ability to sign-in using a PIN and Windows Hello, which uses facial recognition. For us to provide a solution suited to your concern, we need additional information. Can
    you answer the questions below?

    • How are you setting the PIN and Hello?
    • Which build version of Windows is your PC running on?
    • Were there any error codes or messages?

In the meantime, we suggest that you follow the steps below on how to set up PIN.

    • Open Settings.
    • Select Accounts.
    • Click Sign-in options.
    • Click the Add button for the PIN and set your PIN.
    • Do the same for the Windows Hello.

    Looking forward to your response.

  3. Login pin issue

    Hello Astrix Venom

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

It seems you're facing a multi-layered issue primarily with the login PIN for your Microsoft account, coupled with security information changes and challenges in receiving a verification code to your main email. Let's address these issues step by step to help you find a resolution.

    1. PIN Login Issue with Error 0x000006d

The error code "0x000006d" with the sub-status "0xc0070016" generally indicates a problem with the PIN login process, possibly due to incorrect PIN attempts or a mismatch in the security information. It's clear you believe your PIN is correct, so this might hint at underlying issues with your account's security settings or the device itself.

    2. Security Info Change Pending

Microsoft has a security feature that imposes a waiting period when you attempt to change your security information (like an alternative email). This is to protect users from unauthorized changes to their account. Unfortunately, if you've been notified that you must wait a month for these changes to take effect, there's typically no official way to expedite this process. This waiting period is designed to ensure that the rightful owner is making the request.

    3. BitLocker Key Request

If you need your BitLocker recovery key to reset your PIN via the command prompt, the usual advice is to check a few places where it might have been stored:

    1. Microsoft Account: If you were signed into your Microsoft account when you activated BitLocker, your recovery key might be saved there. Visit the Microsoft account recovery key page.
    2. Printed Document: If you printed your recovery key when BitLocker was activated.
    3. Saved File: If you saved the recovery key to a file, check your backups or any drives you might have used.
    4. Azure Active Directory Account: If your device was ever joined to a business or school, the key might be stored in the Azure AD account used for that purpose.
    Immediate Steps to Take

    1. Verify Account Security Information: Since you mentioned that your alternative email is lost, it's good that you've initiated a change. Unfortunately, if Microsoft imposes a one-month wait for security reasons, you must wait unless there's another verification method available on your account.
    2. Check for BitLocker Key: Follow the suggestions above to locate your BitLocker recovery key.
    Additional Suggestions

Check Spam/Junk Folder: For the verification code not received, ensure to check your spam or junk folder. Sometimes emails from Microsoft can end up there.

If there is anything not clear or I can't understand your problem, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Sorry for the delay in response.

I appreciate your effort in trying to fix the issue with the missing features on login screen.

    5. Click on Apply, OK and close the window.
    6. Restart the device and check if the sign-in using PIN is available on the login screen.

Enable sign into Windows 10 using Biometrics from Local Group Policy editor

    1. Open Local Group Policy Editor. To do so, type gpedit.msc
in the run command (Windows + R key).
    2. Navigate to Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Biometrics.
    3. In the right pane of Biometrics, double click on Allow users to log on using biometrics.
    4. Select Enabled option from Allow users to log on using biometrics window.
