Windows 10: Microsoft store not working, cannot install anything, won't update apps.

The microsoft store won't work. In particular, this issue is happening with trying to play Sea of Thieves. The game has not updated for months, would not update, and I could not reinstall, was given an error message. I went as far as reinstalling my entire OS, which only gave me a different error. The "manually reinstalling via powershell" trick will not work, as I get a whole bunch of lines of angry red text. The store also does not appear in any app lists on my computer, like under Apps and Features, so I cannot interact with it that way. This is NOT just with SoT, but with anything on the s

Store Settings "Update apps automatically" won`t stay switched off. WHY?

The possible reason why Update apps automatically turn back on is that the Store app is running in the background. We suggest that you turn off the Store app. This way, it won't receive any updates or send notifications unless opened or turned on
manually.

To turn off Store app, follow these steps:

• Click the Windows logo, then go to Settings.
• Click Privacy, then Background apps.
  
• On the list, locate Store and toggle it off.
