Installing and running games from the Xbox App, even ones installed to WindowsModifiableApps, cause 0x80070005 errors when launching or updating games. In the Advanced Security Settings, the owner is either TrustedInstaller expected or SYSTEM. I can sometimes fix these issues by granting "AuthenticatedUsers" Full Control permissions to the entire folder and subfolders, but that doesn't always fix it and doesn't last permanently, something resets the permissions. The error code 0x80070005 typically represents an "Access Denied" error in Windows environments. This much I am aware of. How do I

  2. Error 0x80070005 in Microsoft Store & Xbox App, Can't Sync Forza Save Data

    Hi Sher,

Thanks for the quick response. I have tried the troubleshooting steps you listed, but none have affected the 0x80070005 from the Microsoft Store or Xbox app.

It sounds like you are implying that the issue can be fixed by a Windows Update, but, as stated in the original post, updating to version 1709 made my situation worse without fixing the original issues. Is updating Windows something that I should try again?

To also add a note, I have attempted these app updates on a laptop running Windows 10 version 1607, which is currently able to install all of the app updates I am having issues with on my computer, but is unable to install an update for OneNote (error 0x80070005).

    Xbox App installation error 0x80070005

When I try to download the Xbox app for Windows 10 via the Microsoft Store or Xbox website download link, I recieve the error code 0x80070005 in both, also, when trying to install games from the gamepass through the microsoft store or minecraft launcher I get the same error. I already tried resetting Microsoft Store's cache, installing the latest .NET framework, and even reinstalling Windows 10 through the ISO file, and it continues giving me this license error.

Sorry if there is some english mistakes, as it isn't my first language
