Windows 10: Microsoft support just fixed my pc a few days ago. Now needing help

Ok I guess there was something wrong with the iso or something like that not to shore. But now that has been fixed I even had to create a new account which I kind of liked I started over from scratch but without losing my files.

So here's the question that I have?
How do I keep using the screen clips as file icons if I use vlc media player as my main media player.

If you look at the image you will see that each file icon is different. But most of the files are mp4. But I know if I download and start using vlc media player the icons will change to the nasty orange cones. I don't want that is there a way around that.

Or is there a way to use just a image for each video rather then doing the whole file type icon thing. I like the preview thing but would like it a bit more cleaned up.

Someone on a anime forum said they use plex but that was from a older post back in April 18th 2015. I'm just trying to clean up and organize my videos and iamges a bit.

Hi, this is what I see with VLC as defaults for avi, divx and mp4 respectively:



divx & flv are only represented with VLC's traffic cone icon. No problem with MP4.
I don't know why, though. However, a program called Icaros (free) resolves this, and supports removal or display of the icon superimposed on the thumbnail.

 

You will always get a screen frame for Thumbnails of videos. Plex is a great server for allowing you to watch media over the network.

 

Thanks for the quick reply's. Normally there full orange icons for me but I will reinstall it on my windows 10 pro pc just to recheck it.

 

The cones are the VLC icons to show association with the program. You do not need to reinstall anything. Do a thumbnail cache and it will still pull a random frame. If all that you are doing is maintaining the library, you may want to run a Kodi Server. Plex is a one time cost for Premium unlocked. I use the DVR Beta on my Synology NAS to record from a HD Homerun OTA network tuner. I use SPMC on my NVIDIA Shield and it runs Plex streams great and also those using Kodi for viewing their media library through it have had great luck.
