Microsoft support scam still in danger?

    Hello.

I accidentally entered in a website that took me to an alert page, wherein a false number was given to microsoft. I called the number. The voice on the other end directed me to hold down the 'r' key while pressing control. He then told me to enter something like www.helpm.com. I did that. It was at that point that became sure I was being misled, shut down the computer, and hung up the phone.

Did I go too far by typing in that site? Is my comp and info in danger?

    :)

    Yes. That's a scam.

Microsoft doesn't call you if you didn't ask them to call you.

Do not trust unsolicited calls. Do not provide any personal information.

    Scam?

No, that's not a Microsoft phone number.

All these kind of pop-ups/alerts are fake warnings - scams. Never ever call these numbers.

    Please read:

In case you keep on getting these fake alerts:

Follow the steps provided here: Remove Tech Support Scam pop-up (Call For Support Scam)

You might want to report this to Microsoft (but you don't have to):
