Bug may not be the best flair as this is extremely flummoxing, but it was the best I could find.

So this problem started a while ago when I installed an option update, other information may show that this is not what caused it. The sound on my laptop stops working, the words are the audio service is down and it is accompanied with a red x on the sound icon. It always does not when I boot up, otherwise it switches every minute or so between working or not. When the sound system works video and audio can't play and vice versa. Getting help doesn't show anything and i can't find anything on the internet that has solved it. I used to be able to reinstall drivers and other small temporary fixes but none work now. I've tried updating all drivers both ways. I soft reset and that fixed it for a few weeks but like how can i permanently fix?

That was the initial message I sent illustrating the problem, and a matter of hours later it fixed for a few days for no apparent reason. Sadly it then came back.

The new info is that this time it again kept switching the issue and sometimes when i went into advanced audio I was able to switch it to others and sometimes not. Both pictured below. Also headphones and headset, idk why they are both from my headphones.

It's not the headphones because they work with my phone, and the pc only sometimes has this issue. And changing volume makes the noise in the headphones.

The latest development is that when I restarted the sound system by Windows key r and then a thing and pressed enter. This didn't work because it was broken halfway through and cannot restart it. Now all 4 options for windows audio are greyed out and unable to be pressed.

Thank you for reading this and I am ready to clarify or supply additional information as needed because I am sure some is missing.

    PS. I have a surface laptop 2

  4. Microsoft Surface Audio Issues

Microsoft Edge audio issue with a website (and perhaps others?)

Thanks for the suggestion Melowin. I followed the steps but unfortunately this did not resolve the audio issue for the website Learn English Pronunciation | How To Pronounce Words. Still no audio.

In contrast the website https://www.howtopronounce.com/ I mentioned in my original posting was not impacted by this change either.
