    Microsoft surface book pen buttons work but pen tip will not write


    I have a microsoft surface book 1st gen and the pen does not work. Buttons work fine but the tip will not write. Heres what I have tried:

    1. Removing device from Bluetooth and then adding it back

    2. changing the battery

    3. I even bought a new pen thinking it may be the pen! New pen did not work.

    4. Removed device driver and reinstalled.

    5. System rollback

    6. Updated system driver


    Surface pen integration gives me this --


    Device HID\{00001812-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb}_Dev_VID&02045e_PID&090e_REV&002f_c773e685e315&Col02\9&31d7fe58&0&0001 was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match.



    I am out of ideas. Someone help me. I haven't even had this computer for a month. I hate it, so many issues for such an expensive machine. The main selling point is this damn pen and it seems like a lot of people have this issue?



    Also side note, computer randomly freezes every few hours, no ctrl+alt+del, nothing will unfreeze it and I have to do a cold reboot. Any ideas for this issue as well? I am mostly concerned with the pen right now, but hey while I'm on here if I can fix that issue too.

    Surface Pro 4 Pen will not write on screen

    My Surface Pro 4 Pen which I got with Surface Pro 4 has stopped writing. I can connect pen with Surface Pro 4 and and all works except I cannot write on screen.
    I suspect it is the tip of pen that does not work but cannot verify this.
    Please note tip is not broken.
    Before I purchase a tip kit can someone suggest what I can try to see if it is the tip or something else that is faulty.
    My surface Pro 4 is up to date with all updates including BIOS updates. I use a Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.

    I would appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better.

    • Which model of Microsoft Surface you are using?
    • Is it not working only in writing mode?
    • You have also mentioned Windows 10 PC in your query? Are you facing issue on computer?

    Surface Pro 4 Pen will not write on screen

    Try the tips from Microsoft Support at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...ft-surface-pen. In my case when this happened, I needed to replace the single AAAA battery inside my Pen. Perhaps you might find some of these suggestions helpful.
