Windows 10: Microsoft To Do: App slows/freezes when typing just a few characters in search bar

This has been happening to me for a long time, but it's intermittent. Windows 11. Microsoft To DoIn side of Microsoft To Do, if I type just one or two characters and don't type a whole word quickly, it will start to search, and then I can't do anything else inside of the app. Sometimes it completely freezes, sometimes after a few minutes I get control again.If I type a longer search term, it works ok typically.

If you meant the Cortana search bar, review the suggested solutions on these threads:

• Can't type in Windows 10 search bar.
• Can't type anything in Win 10 Apps (Cortana, Search, Calculator, Feedback, etc.)

Cannot type full word in windows search, edge address bar or search bar.

I have tried the suggested DSIM actions previously without success.

AS mentioned, if I paste the text string (or url) into the search/address bars, then the function works.

What I cannot do is type a text string into the bars, as I start typing, a couple of characters are shown in the predicative drop down, and as I type more, the original characters are removed and 2 ~ 3 new characters are then in the drop down list which
constantly flashes as if searching.

This is extremely unusual behavior and also difficult to describe other than to say I cannot type a full text string with any more than 3 characters at a time making the search function totally useless EVER SINCE THE CREATOR UPDATE.

 

search progress bar freezes

When I search in W10 File Explorer, the progress bar moves quickly at first, then slows down, and then freezes before the search is complete.

I do not use Cortana for my searches.

Any suggestions to solve this, please?
