Windows 10: Microsoft Update caused my stuff to disappear

I recently updated my windows 10, this caused all of my stuff to be moved into a temp folder, I moved all of my stuff to the desktop again because it was my important stuff I needed quick access to. How ever when I restarted my PC everything went back to normal except everything I had moved over to my new desktop was removed. I looked all over onedrive where it said everything was uploaded to for a backup and still none of my stuff was there. Is there any way I could get this back as it was all very important for current projects I am working on.

Windows 10 update: start up and sleep issues caused

Thank you for your response: apologies for slow feedback.

Regarding step 1 - doing a restore point : I tried this twice and twice it failed. Now, the date of the update that caused the issue (13/14 September 2019) has disappeared from the history list. Is there a way of finding it, still?

Regarding Step 2- the list of updates installed: the two suggestions above do not seem to appear in the list in the window "Installed Updates".

There are two updates listed for 13 September - Security Update for Adobe Flash Player and Security Update for Microsoft Windows.

Could you advise what I might try next?

My Stuff disappeared


Strange indeed- build 318, whether live id login or local user I get the search options displayed in Cortana, and not My Stuff now.

UK English.

Noted that logged in using my live id, the options were at the top of the Cortana box, whilst as a local user they were at the bottom (assuming no other factor affected this).

MS posts suggest this:

Type in "indexing" in your Cortana search box, click "indexing options" and a box will pop up with the locations you have designated to be searched. If the drive or drives you want to include are not listed, click "modify" and add them by checking the ones you want. Be sure to include the drive your Windows 10 is installed on or you won't get the "My Stuff" to show up.

However I've not yet found this to work

Oh dear they're still pushing that. I STILL don't like the metro tiles and stuff!
