Windows 10: Microsoft Update, Firewall Issue.

Hi, I we have a product machine which utilize the windows 10 x86, this machine has one rule that all the inbound and outbound rule should be disabled permanently. however after adding patch KB5040430 to the machine we noticed. the one outbound rule Shell Input Application is getting enabled automatically. we have done the same on fresh machine setup , installed machine application first but after adding the patch the rule is getting enable which should not be the case.requesting all if anyone is aware of the issue please let us know.

firewall can't be updated but needs to be updated

• Which firewall are you trying to update?
• Which troubleshooter are you running?

If it is a Windows Firewall, then I suggest you to try the steps provided below and check if it helps.

Restart the computer a few times and check for Windows Updates.

In the Search box on the taskbar, enter Windows Update, select Windows Update. On the Windows Update page, select Check for updates.

If the issue persists, then try to run SFC scan.

Scan for damaged system files. Right-click the Start icon and select
Command Prompt (Admin). In the Command Prompt window, type
sfc /scannow and hit Enter.

Then type dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth and hit Enter.

• Are you getting any error messages when trying to enable the said applications? NO ERROR MESSAGESARE BEING RETRIEVED WHEN FIREWALL OR ANTIVIRUS ARE ENABLED, NOTHIMG HAPPENS WHEN THEY'RE CLICKED

 

Good Antivirus + Firewall

I would never put anything Norton on my computer.

Nod32 is arguably the best antivirus. AVG is likely not as good, but it's free and at least pretty good.

Firewalls, I'd put Comodo and whatever "Tiny Personal Firewall" is named nowadays on your short list. I think Kerio might have sold it now and it's named something else. Otherwise, just put Comodo on your short list. I think the current version's ease of use has taken a step backwards, seems a bit counter-intuitive when trying to do certain things with it, but overall it does a good job and the price is right.
