Windows 10: Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 stuck on installation at 98%

Started installation over 2 hours ago. Main log file has shown no activity for over 1 hour.

Stuck at 98% on Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 preparation. Don't want to cancel as it'll delete everything that has been installed so far. Has used up 30 gigs of the system drive for install and installer.


What can be done to get the installation to finish? It's not even attempting to write to the hard drive now and only using about 3% of the CPU.

You'd think these things would have a timeout in the case of an infinite loop.


It's not a network problem because I have good internet and WIFI andd the install isn't even trying to use the internet.


I'm tempted just to kill the process or restart windows but don't see how I can run VS2015 after. Annoying as I had it installed fine and then decided to do a clean install of Windows, so I know it works on this computer in Windows 10. So frustrating. Spent 2 days just installing Windows and now it's going to run over into a third day!!!

Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 x64 Installation Failure

I suggest you to uninstall any existing Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package and install the latest Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package to check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

Step 1: Uninstall the exiting Microsoft Visual C++.

a) Press Windows key + x key and select
Programs and Features.

b) Right click on the Microsoft Visual C++ and uninstall it.

Step 2: Download the latest Microsoft Visual C++ and install it.

update installs only on computers that have Visual Studio 2015 Update 1 installed. If Visual Studio 2015 Update 1 is not installed, then follow:

unistall visual studio 2015 .

VISUAL STUDIO 2015 AND VISUAL STUDIO 2010 INSTALLED ON MY SYSTEM BUT WE WANT TO UNINSTALL 2015 .because in program file all files are include and i am confused .that which file is 2015 and 2010 .
