Windows 10: Microsoft voice access and Dictation spelling mistakes

i'm having difficulty using Microsoft voice access or dictation as it continues to spell things incorrectly. It is not that it is choosing the wrong word, which does occur, and somewhat expected, but it will spell words probably like they sound, not as they are spelled. Ie. Bilateral was spelled bulateral which is not even a word. This happens to many different words and is not consistent. Is there a way that it will write words that exist in the english language and not spell them as they may sound? Also, I am doing the typing in both edge and firefox.Thank you so much for any assistance.

Introducing Microsoft Dictation for iOS

Dictation just got better

We're constantly on the go, and there never seems to be enough time in the day. Fortunately, we don't need our computers to stay on top of things—our mobile devices get the job done! We're pleased to announce that Dictation for Outlook is now available for iPhone and iPad devices, making it even easier to be productive throughout the day.

With the Dictation feature, you can use speech-to-text to author content in Office with a microphone and a reliable internet connection. Using your voice is faster than typing and simplifies work on-the-go. It also helps capture the right tone by allowing the natural flow of your voice to be articulated on your device quickly and effortlessly!

Today, we’re excited to announce Dictation is now available on iOS

Microsoft 365 users can now take advantage of the same dictation functionality previously available exclusively on desktop and Word with Office Mobile. Now, you can use your voice in Outlook to respond to email or write new email messages, or in Word to draft documents on your iPhone or iPad. Coming soon to Android. Dictation lets you use speech-to-text and simple voice commands to author content in Office with the simple click of a microphone. Outlook also leverages Microsoft Graph to recognize the names of your colleagues so you can add that personal touch.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Windows: You can pause and resume dictation using Alt+` (same as the ~ key)

Mac: You can pause and resume dictation using ⌥ (Option) + F1

Settings

Auto Punctuation - Not sure where to place the comma? Let the app edit as you speak.

Profanity Filter - By default, dictation masks some words that could be considered profane with ****. This is to ensure that any errors in speech recognition don’t incorrectly attribute potentially sensitive phrases to a speaker. You can disable this feature by unchecking the setting.

Voice Commands - You can now say phrases like “new paragraph”, “delete that”, “bold last sentence” and more to take action between dictating text.

In-App Help - Quickly see all the punctuation, symbols, and voice commands you can say by clicking on the question mark icon in the new dictation toolbar.

Expanded Locale Support - We've added Dictation support for seven new locales: Hindi, Thai, Chinese (Taiwan), Korean, Polish, Russian, and Portuguese (Portugal).

Additional language support is planned in the future.

Outlook mobile is currently only for EN-US.

Office also features dictation capabilities in Microsoft Word online at Office.com:

New tooltips - Hints will appear during dictation to help you learn useful voice commands.

Microsoft starts testing voice dictation in latest Office Insider apps

Microsoft officials touted back in January a new voice dictation capability for Microsoft Office.

On March 12, Microsoft began testing this feature with its Office Insider testers. The @OfficeInsider account tweeted yesterday:

"Windows #OfficeInsiders, get ready to ditch your keyboard and use your voice to write documents, compose emails, and create presentations! Voice dictation is available now to #InsidersFast."

Microsoft officials touted the coming Office dictation technology in January, saying it would be available in February 2018.

To test dictating using voice, customers must be running the latest version of Office for Windows (Office 2016) and be an Office 365 subscriber. The voice dictation feature, which uses speech recognition technology to convert speech to text, is available for Word 2016, PowerPoint 2016, Outlook 2016 and OneNote 2016 and in US English only for now.
