Windows 10: Microsoft Windows desktop not responding

Hello. My windows 10 laptop started freezing all of a sudden.. i'm on the desktop, with no opened apps, and if i click anywhere on the desktop or in the toolbar the screen goes black for a few seconds and the pc freezes up with this error. Does anyone know what happened and how to fix it? I tried doing chkdsk and SFC tool and restarted it but nothing changed. I can't even check for updates cause the settings are stuck. Helpp

Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection "Not Responding" but cannot be killed

I launched a Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) to a remote server. The screen suddenly got frozen while connecting; the title bar indicates (Not Responding).

I opened another window of RDC and it worked.

My problem is that I cannot close the first window that got frozen. I have Windows 10. I tried

• Close the Window. It shows a window with "The application is not responding... Do you want to end this process?". Clicking on button End Process does not do much
  
• Task Manager > End Task
  
• Task Manager > Details > mstsc.exe > end Task
  

No matter what I tried, the frozen window is still here.

Any suggestion except a Logout or a reboot?

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
