Windows 10: Microsoft Wireless Adapter 4K : wrong max resolution

Hi !I've read some content about this problem but didn't find any answer leading to a resolution, although it seems that I'm not the only one concerned. I've got a Surface Laptop 4, a ViewSonic monitor WQHD 3440 x 1440 and I tried to use a Microsoft Wireless Adapter 4K model 1942, but the max resolution is 1920x1080 30Hz.I updated all that can be uptaded, uninstall/reinstall the adapter etc. I'm stuck with this horrible result... Is Microsoft 4K Wireless Display Adapter support Windows 11? Is this newer model than the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter?

Yes, the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter V2 and the Microsoft 4K Wireless Display Adapter are supported on Windows 11.

The main difference between these 2 devices is the 4k version's max resolution is 4k at 30fps against the 1080p resolution of the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter v2.

The 4K version is the newer model.

 

Microsoft 4K Wireless Display Adapter not showing correct resolution

I am running a Surface Pro 4 with Windows 10 v. 20H2, OS build 19042.608.

I just bought the Microsoft 4K Wireless Display Adapter (Model 1942).

It says it supports a resolution up to "Max video resolution 3840 x 2160 @30fps".

My screen is 3440x1440 (Acer CB342CK) but when I connect to the adaptor it only connects at 1920x1080 at the image looks all washed out. That is the highest resolution that seems to be available. I have checked the Wireless Display Adapter App and it seems
that I have the latest firmware installed (Firmware version: 3.9520.26). I've checked everything I can, and nothing seems to be a fix.

Any thoughts?

 

Microsoft 4k Wireless adapter maxes out at 1920x1080

My laptop is a Lenovo P1 gen2 laptop (Intel UHD 630 + Nvidia T2000 with 15.6 4K oled). I also had a secondary external monitor with a prior generation Microsoft Wireless Adapter. The laptop was casting fine at 1080p. I've subsequently upgraded my secondary monitor to LG Ultragear 34" (supports upto 3440 x 1440) and bought the Microsoft 4k Wireless Display adapter. I can connect to the new monitor but still maxes out at only 1920x1080 rather than full 3440x1440 (checked display settings). I tried updating drivers but it has had no effect. I also installed the Windows Store Microsoft Display Adapter app and it says its the latest firmware (3.9520.47) Any ideas on what the issue might be?
