Windows 10: microsoft wireless keyboard 3050 connected but not working

hi,

i have a brand new microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse 3050. it does not work on my dell latitude running windows 10. i have tried updating drivers to latest, run windows update, uninstall reinstall, tried another dell laptop running windows 7, different ports, downloaded microsoft software to control these devices but nothing works.

the usb connection is there - i can see it but both the keyboard and the mouse don't function.


i am at a loss......... i checked compatibility and it says online they are compatible

Microsoft Keyboard 3050

Thank you for your suggestions dated 12 August and subsequent followup.

The problem still persists and I hope the following information will help you to give me more advice.

• What are the basic functions that are not working?

Mail button, home, and headphone buttons work. The rest do not. Also, I cannot open the file which shows the functions of the various keys.

• Any changes to the device prior to the issue?

There was an update but I did not make a note of it, sorry.

• Which Windows version?

Windows Enterprise. Version 1607.

Note. The device will not download Version 1703 but tries daily.



I have performed the clean boot operation several times. The only result is that I can now use the three buttons listed above. No other changes.

Initially, when I first purchased the keyboard, I inserted batteries, plugged in the USB stick and everything worked OK. I have downloaded the software for the 3050 keyboard from the web and tried to use that – no improvement.



I must advise you that I am using an unactivated version of Windows10. After the initial download in late 2016 I experienced lots of problems. (See my past posts on these). In an effort to clear these I had a re-installation of W10 done, which has
turned out to be unactivated. The computer and 3050 keyboard then worked perfectly for some weeks until the keyboard stopped working. It works fine as a standard keyboard. The PC also works fine with an old wired keyboard.



One further point. I also have a laptop and have connected the 3050 keyboard to it. It works 100% on the laptop!!!

I hope you can come up with some ideas.

Wireless Mouse connects as a keyboard

Hi there.

I've tried doing all of these steps, and it still doesn't work. I can see the device in 'Connected devices' in 'Settings'. It is listed as 'Microsoft Nano Tranceiver' but has a keyboard icon next to it. the mouse is a Microsoft Mouse 1850. This also occurs
with other wireless mice I have tried, and they connect but all have the keyboard icon next to them.

Wireless keyboard not working

Thank you for your response.

I suggest you to connect the keyboard to a different computer and check if it works.

Apart from wireless keyboard, I would also suggest you to connect wired keyboard to the computer and check the status.

If issue still persists, try the steps provided below and check if it helps.

Check in compatibility mode.

Download the keyboard drivers from your computer manufacture website for Windows 10.

Follow these steps to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if that helps.

• Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website.
• Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘properties’.
• Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 8 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed
  with the installation.
• Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.
