Windows 10: Microsoft Wireless Keyboards with USB Dual Receiver dongle wake screen after last Windows...

Until the recent Windows updates currently on 20H2 my monitors would turn off after my set delay and stay off. No longer. Now, they turn off and within a few seconds, turn back on.

I have found this is due to the Microsoft USB Dual Receiver I use with my Microsoft wireless keyboard. If I remove that dongle, my screen stays off. If I keep it plugged in, the screen will turn on shortly after turning off, again.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver. I have also tried turning off any "wake" activities for the dongle in device manager. But in device manager there is no power management tab to do this. I have done the same for the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Detection Driver. Uninstalled and reinstalled... tried to turn off any wake functions.

For the USB hub devices, where I looked next, I see that "Allow this device to wake the computer" is not only not selected, but it's grayed out so I can't select/unselect it if I wanted to:

I would really like to get back to where I was many weeks ago before the latest updates I've had the same hardware for many months, well before the updates, and no issues with it. My screen should turn off not sleep mode, just the screen turning off and stay off until I move my mouse, for example... I'm OK disabling wake from the keyboard, and is what I've been trying to do! But nothing works.

Last point is that I'm running Microsoft Windows 10 on a Microsoft Surface Book 2 with a Microsoft Keyboard and a Microsoft mouse. The reason I decided to get all Microsoft items was to avoid such issues. Seems Microsoft should test things... that they manufacture! Is that too much to ask? :-

Universal USB Dongle for Wireless Comfort Keyboard/Mouse 5000

Is there a universal USB dongle/receiver/transceiver (I'm not sure what the proper word is) that is compatible with the Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard/Mouse 5000? The factory made one went missing and I love the keyboard and mouse so much that I'm
desperately searching for some sort of replacement.

 

Microsoft modern keyboard not waking computer from sleep

Hello,

Recently purchased a Microsoft modern keyboard with finger print ID. Works great … with one exception... it won't wake the computer from sleep.

Online there is lots of discussion about getting a Bluetooth device to wake PCs, but no real solutions. I've ensured Bluetooth is always powered on, but there is no Power Management option under Bluetooth Devices - Modern Keyboard with Fingerprint ID.

Anyone have any steps to allow this?

My old wireless Logitech keyboard (with a USB dongle) happily wakes my PC.
