Windows 10: microsoft xbox wireless adapter for windows 10 No drivers.

Wife got me a new headset, but it is only for xbox so I ordered the Adapter so I could use it on both PC and Xbox. When I insert the dongle it says it is preparing device...then that device is ready. Headset nor any controllers, will connect. I look at device Manager and it shows up as "XBOX ACC" I check properties of device and it says no drivers are installed, I try updating drivers and It says none available. I researched online and was sent to a microsoft driver site and I could not get any of the ones for windows 10 to work...I tried them all 18 at this time. I have made sure all my updates are up to date, even optional ones. I have seen several post suggest an app that will install drivers for me but I dont trust them at this time. Please someone tell me it's something simple and that I am just a dumb ****.

I understand that some steps ae done to try to resolve this issue and that you have tried downloading the drivers from the Microsoft Update Catalog. For us to help you in resolving this issue, may we ask you to do the following?

• Unplug the XBOX cable from the computer.
• Restart your computer.
• Plug in the XBOX cable and check if it will try to install the adapter.

If the above step won't work, I suggest you to follow the suggestions by
Andre Da Costa in below article and check if it resolves the issue.

I appreciate your time and patience to work on this issue. To have a better clarity on the issue please reply to the following questions:

• Are you using an Xbox one controller?
  

If you are using an Xbox one controller, I suggest you to refer the steps in the article

How to connect an Xbox One Wireless Controller to a Windows PC and see if that helps in resolving the issue.



I would also suggest you to uninstall all the hidden devices under USB hive and check if you are able to connect the wireless adapter. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the hidden drivers:

1. Press and hold the Windows + X key on the keyboard.
   
2. Select Device manager.
   
3. Click View tab.
   
4. Select Show hidden devices.
   
5. Expand Universal Serial Bus and remove all the greyed out devices. To remove the greyed out devices, right click on the device and select
   uninstall.
   
6. Restart your computer.
